Avcon worked with the retail holding company to upgrade their headquarters before the company’s acquisition by Ascena. Avcon worked on the design of a state-of-the-art energy management system that resulted in an additional 20% efficiency in equipment operation and energy savings. The new system was provided to manage the operation of multiple HVAC units including those on the four office floors, rooftop, and data center, as well as all zone VAV boxes. The system provided a single user-friendly interface that can be used for different control protocols of the existing equipment.

Bergdorf Goodman

Bergdorf Goodman is a New York City based luxury department store known for high-end designer clothes & shoes. Avcon has been the building engineers for over 25 years. Base building services that Avcon has worked on include the complete upgrade and relocation of MEP infrastructure to allow the cellar to be made into a retail space. Other projects have included engineering for MEP/FP systems and equipment for restaurants, alteration rooms, computer centers and the addition of vertical transportation in the form of both elevators and escalators.

The Saks Fifth Ave Flagship store located at 611 Fifth Ave, NY, NY is the headquarters for the famous luxury department retailer. Avcon has been the base building engineer for over 20 years. We have provided engineering services for a full electrical infrastructure upgrade with new electric service equipment and vertical busducts, new emergency generator installation, fire pump installation, and the conversion of the domestic water supply system from the storage tanks into constant pumps system. We have conducted several energy studies to allow for the continuous improvement of MEP base building systems, including the energy cost analysis and addition of economizer cycle for the chiller plant winter operation and an energy study of the existing heating system and equipment with the possibility to convert from steam heating system into hot water for entire building.

Neiman Marcus, a department store that sells luxury goods worldwide, has opened its newest flagship store in NYC’s Hudson Yards development on Manhattan’s West Side. Avcon worked closely with Related Companies and their base building team to support the ground-up construction of the entirely new building and systems as they relate to Neiman Marcus specific applications. Avcon designed the MEP systems to work with a state-of-the-art energy management system to ensure an energy efficient and environmentally conscientious store.
